Theme Park Summer Updates
Sweating through the parks to give you food updates!
Don’t blink, summers already here!
Can you believe it’s already summer?! I feel like it was just theme park Christmas and now I’m navigating summer crowds, daily activities to keep the child entertained, finding time to work, and more.
There have been a TON of resort updates at Walt Disney World the last month and a half. I’ve been able to try some of them but not all of them yet.
Menu Updates at Walt Disney World

Places I went last month
It’s been a busy few weeks since I last posted, I’ve been in the parks for fun, for work, and I even went on a cruise! So let’s dive in.
One of my good friends was in town for holiday during May so I was able to link up with her a handful of times. She informed me that the Tomato Soup at Woody’s Lunch Box had been updated and was now plant based, so I had to go give it a try. We ordered the soup with the Plant-based Toasted Cheese Sandwich and also got an order of the plant-based Totchos to share. My major complaint on this was that we had to order this in person to get the soup as a side, which ended up being about 45 minutes from line to eating. BUT the soup was very good and I liked the sandwich dipped in it.
I got to ride the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Featuring the Muppets during Passholder Preview, it’s great. As a Muppets fan I fully support this overlay. Jo and I had to get a photo of our Muppets tattoos.
Suzannah (@veganparksguide) and I went to Beak and Barrel at Magic Kingdom. They were very strict on their time limit of 45 minutes, but the bar itself was very neat. I am a pirates fan so I was excited for the experience. The Island Provisions can be modified to be vegan, so of course we got those. You can read about the experience here.
During that visit we also went to Columbia Harbour House to give it another shot. I had an overwhelming experience when I went last year and decided it was time to re-try that meal. I did enjoy the Hearts of Palm and Artichoke Sandwich, but it still isn’t a favorite to me. The salad mix was ice cold and nearly impossible to eat as a handheld. But if you’re a sweaty mess and need something light, this is perfect for those days.
I went to Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant twice in the last month, don’t judge me. One day Corey and I went for a lunch date while Finn was at school and another day we went with our friends who were in town. Both times I got the Sci-Fi Nachos, the first time they were just okay but the second time they were back to their delicious glory. I also got an Oreo Milkshake the first visit then decided to give the Cookie Shake another try on the second, I should have just gotten the Oreo Shake though, if you know what I mean.

We’ve been busy trying new food at the Disney Resorts lately. We popped over to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort to try the new Breakfast Wrap from Gasparilla Island Grill. I am happy to report that this is tofu based like the old days and it makes me very happy.
We also tried the new options at the value resorts. The Chocolate Chip Cookie Sandwich is now my favorite thing, so get yourself one!! See all the new options here.

I spent the weekend on the Disney Wish on the fanciest sailing I have done with Disney Cruise Line. I sailed Concierge Level, dined at Palo, and had a Cabana at Castaway Cay. I was excited to learn about these experiences for my clients and general info to share about these spaces onboard.
When in the lounge I was able to pre-order items, much like I often do at dinner, so that they had things for me. I pre-ordered breakfasts to have there as well as afternoon snacks. Typically I eat breakfast in the dining room and avoid the buffet due to how long those can take for special items, so ordering my usual vegan sausage, vegan omelet and allergy Mickey waffles was very easy.
In Palo I was able to order several options to be modified, the one I was most excited for was a vegan pizza where they had plant-based cheese, arugula, sun dried tomatoes, and mushrooms. I would absolutely love to experience Palo again, it was great.
So as I said, it’s been a busy few weeks. Between being in the parks more than usual, being home to participate in end of the year school activities, planning summer things, etc., ya girl is tired. And it’s only just begun! See you next month!
